Stronger Together: Branching Out into the Schools.
The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Our mission is growing, and we need your help to keep the momentum going! We are looking to expand our team of neighbors to help our programs flourish.
If you have 2-4 hours a month to spare, you can make a direct impact on the lives of Washington students. Whether you prefer working behind the scenes or in the schools interacting with students, there’s a place for you here.
Choose Your Way to Serve:
The Operations Team (Inventory & Prep)
Over time, we have converted a local house into a “home base” for our programs. This is a great, low-pressure way to serve solo or with a friend.
- What you’ll do: Sort donated clothing, organize gear, and prep Care Closet kits.
- Time Commitment: Flexible 2-hour shifts at the Branches House.
The School Team (Care Closet Staff)
See the impact of your work firsthand! Help students “shop” our closets and find the items they need to feel confident at school.
- What you’ll do: Staff our monthly giveaway days at Washington elementary and middle schools.
- Time Commitment: A consistent monthly shift (e.g., the 3rd Wednesday of the month) during school hours.
The Supply Line (Delivery & Pickups)
Help us get the goods where they need to go. This is the perfect role for those who enjoy being on the move!
- School Deliveries: Load and transport supplies and gear from the Branches House to our local schools as needs arise.
- The “Heavy Lifters” (Monthly): We are looking for volunteers with large vehicles (SUVs, vans, or trucks) to pick up bulk food items from the Midwest Food Bank once a month. This role is essential to keeping our snack pantries stocked and our kids fueled!
- Time Commitment: Variable; the Food Bank run is a consistent monthly task.
